The Lumberton City Council today awarded naming rights to a performance space downtown to Southeastern Health — but not before nearly an hour of discussing the facts of the deal and the intentions of those involved.
The council ultimately voted 5-3 to give Southeastern Health the naming rights, the most recent in a series of split votes on the matter. Councilmen John Cantey, Robert Jones and Erich Hackney voted against giving Southeastern Health the naming rights. Hackney and Cantey had been vocal about their concerns during previous meetings.
