Robeson second worst in turnout for November election

Robeson County’s percentage of voters for the General Election in November was the second poorest in the state, according to Politics North Carolina, a political reference source that refers to itself as “your source for political news.”
According to county rankings recently published on Politics North Carolina’s website, of the state’s 100 counties, only Onslow had a lower percentage of voters going to the polls in November than did Robeson. The five worst ranked counties and their percentage of voters going to the polls are: Onslow, No. 100, 32.72 percent; Robeson, No. 99, 33.82 percent; Hoke, No. 98, 34.56 percent; Pasquotank, No. 97, 36.27 percent; and Cumberland, No. 96, 37.38 percent.
All five of those counties, except for Onslow, tend to vote Democratic. As of late November, about 70 percent of Robeson’s 75,000 registered voters call themselves Democrats.
